Tailgate Decal's

Danny G
OK So I just bought the style side tailgate decals. First time I have seen these come up, seems like they have a bunch all of a sudden, maybe someone cleared inventory.

I'm going to scan these in so I can make aftermarket copies in what ever color/fashion.

If there is interest in the flare side ones I will buy a set of those as well.

I bought a set from this seller on Ebay and they fit quite nice. They were identical to the originals.

I believe they do other models, but thought I'd chime in on the Flareside stuff. I would have gladly purchased them from a forum member at the time, but figured I'd at least mention this seller so you don't go too far in making them.

Yeah the ones we got online fit well, but were noticeably thinner than the OEM stickers.

Will probably be Oracle 5400 for reflective, or Orafol 5600, both have better performance than 3M. It's a bit pricier but it's reflective and 5 mil thick and designed specifically for cars. So it should be thicker like factory. It's the same reflective stuff they use on emergency vehicles and has the longest guarantee of the vinyls.

The eBay seller is probably using 651 for the plain colors which is cheaper and thinner. But is good vinyl. We have made many decals with it that are intricate and holding well. Orafol and Oracal should have something also at 5 mil that is non reflective.

Depending on the price of the specific material as some like the 5600 can run a $3,$4,$5 per square foot (reflective vs non reflective etc) where 651 can be $1.40 per square foot. I was thinking between $30-$50 shipped max.

Should be noted white reflective will have a grey/silver tint to it.

I just ordered some flare side decals to.

I'll keep everyone updated, they letter seill need to be scanned, converted, sized and cleaned up. Will make a few cuts and see how it comes out.

May send out a couple sets at cost first round.

You just reminded me...I'm pretty sure the decals had "3M" on the backing. I actually screwed up my "F" when I was applying them and had a local shop make me a new one. Whatever they did it was exactly the same. In any case, I would have gladly purchased heavier decals from a forum member that was making them, but these were what I found when I went looking at the time.
