Split Bench Seat

Hi Gentlemen!

Last week at my local salvage yard, there was this curious seat, first time I saw one of these.

This truck is a 1986 Explorer. Anybody familiar with this kind of bench seat?

Those were used in Supercabs and Broncos to gain access to the rear seats. The floor pans are different between Regular Cab/CrewCab and Supercab/Bronco trucks, so they likely made custom mounts to fit that seat into a Regular Cab.

I saw the same setup in my local junkyard last week.

Can confirm this.  I have never seen them in a regular cab (at the pick)  but in the above mentioned.

And if you'll notice how little space there is between the B pillar and the bottom seat corner - this doesn't change with supercabs as experienced by those of us that spent a childhood climbing (aka gracefully falling) in and out of that backseat.

Scott, my wife is not a tall person.
She is still "climbing" and "gracefully" falling from Big Bro's bench seat each time... and hates it.
