Size of Nut For Front Springs

Quarterwave
Hi everyone,

A recently-installed lift came with incorrect springs, and the manufacturer has just sent me the replacements.

What size wrench will I need to loosen and remove the large nut located on the bottom, inside plate that the front springs sit on?

Thanks!

This truck is a 2wd correct? On my 1984, those big long bolts are 3/4", and the nuts were 1 1/18" IIRC. You can get an open ended wrench in through the coil spring to remove the nut, and then there's another nut below that plate as well, on top of the radius arm.

Thanks for the response, Rembrant.

Yes sir, 2WD.

Question - did you need a pipe/breaker bar to get them off?

No sir, I'm up here in the land of rust. That bolt and nut(s) was never coming apart on the threads. If I recall correctly, I split the side of the nut with a drill. Drilled a couple holes into the side of the nut through the spring coils, and then split the nut with a hammer and chisel.

I installed new radius arms (Dorman), and new bolts/nuts (from LMC).

If the threads on your bolts look decent, start soaking them down with penetrating oil I guess.

Thanks Rembrant.

I'll put some Kroil on them on Saturday and take a shot at them hopefully this Sunday...
