Picked up a commuter car

Kevins750
If this is the wrong section, feel free to move it.

Picked up a 94 mark 8 the other day.
Originally I bought it for the motor and trans(future swap) but the car ran and drove pretty decent. It has been neglected but runs like the wind, passed smog easily.
It has all the typical mark 8 issues. Door handle broken, leaking air ride,abused/neglected leather interior.
So far New tires, front tie rods, and some 91 octane gas and she runs smoothly.

Anyway not much to look at but her she is..

Wrong SECTION!?!?    We ain't got no car section.  We got Bullnoses or Bullnoses.  (And sometimes computers, boats, and even Chryslers.)

No, we don't cater to things other than Bullnose trucks, but we do allow them.  I mean, even the hard core truck lovers gotta have a vice of some kind.

So, post away.  But, what are you swapping that 4.8L into?

I was going to swap it into my 93 4x4 ranger, make it off road only/hunting rig.

Decided to leave the ranger stock 3.0l w/5sp.

I am a ford guy, so the motor would have been for any future projects I may have came across.

That's supposed to be a very nice engine and tranny, but you'll need the computer to go with them.  Have you done that kind of a swap?  I haven't, but it looks fairly complex.

Yes, those early aluminum 4.6L DOHC engines have the Teksid block. They were made in Italy by Teksid Spa, whose other customers were Ferrari and Masarati, possibly Lamborgini. I have it's FWD cousin from a 1995 Continental, it's only 260 HP. If nothing else those RWD aluminum Teksid blocks are extremely sought after as they are stronger than the Ford built ones. Computer is probably an EEC-IV, and the transmission, if automatic is going to be the 4R70W or 4R75W, basically an electronic upgrade from the AOD.

I had a '97. Little more power than the early cars, liked it a lot. Same engine the Cobra Mustangs had, slightly detuned.
