Paint off Bumper?

Bought a rear bumper other day to replace my rusted through one.  At some point someone spray painted black  over the chrome. Any ideas about how to get it off?

Paint stripper won’t hurt chrome. Nor will brake cleaner, which will melt paint.

Hopefully, you have not yet mounted the replacement bumper. If you have, be careful and protect the truck's pant.

Stripper, FTW!   Brake fluid worked great on old paints, but it's not quite as effective on modern ones.  The middle row of tiny insets at the top of this montage shows stripper on factory paint:
