Norwegian F250, 1984, 460, 2wd

Papelione
Hi

Thought I start a New thread here, and show and Write about my new truck.
Here it is
My truck

Been looking for a bullnose for a while, this is the 3rd I have seen for sale here over the last year, so they are not abundant, even though there is a generel love for Am car`s.
This car is a F250, 1984, 460, 2wd. Sold New i Salt Lake city, at Greg Warner`s( has a Nice metal plate at the tail gate), I really like the colours, but haven`tseen any other With that stripping, as I understand it could be dealer specific?

The truck stayed With the same person i Utah until 2008 when it was sold to Boise, Iowa. Different owners there it seams, and finally exported to Norway in 2014, where it has gone through a couple of owners.

I liked that it was pretty original and mostly rustfree.

Since bought it in november in the South of this Cold and long land, I drove it home, which was allmost 2000 km. It was a little sketchy but overall it behaved well. Driveline seams sound. No funny noises, smoke or other acting up on the way home, 3rd is hard to find when Cold but better after a while.

Normal behavior?

Yesterday I drove it to winterstorage, and will bring it out in Mar/APR when snow Clears.

Plans for Next year mostly cosmetic, on the exterior, theres a large  scratch rear Wheel Arch where the trim is damaged.

Right head light bezel is cracked, tailgate decor is dented, lower part of grill is dented, missing a moulding on the cab. Paint is looking pretty dull....................

Mechanicly The former owner has bypassed the ignition and starting it is via a push switch under the dash. Guessing the ignition switch should be exchanged?

Also there`s a bypss on the wiper switch, I will Exchange that as well, so I dont have to use seperate switch for that either., saw there where Nice Write ups on this forum :=)
(Red cord is not out off the dash:=)

Guess that`s it for me now, just got contact With a guy Whos`s good dent mending so will og to him this evening With to pieces and see what he can do.

Best regards

Christian

Christian - That's exactly what this forum is for, documenting what you do and asking questions of others.

Yes, I'd agree that the paint/tape scheme is aftermarket, either dealer or someone else.  I have not seen that before.

On the issue with 3rd gear, you might want to change the fluid in the transmission.  That transmission takes regular gear lube with specification ESP-M2C83-C.  But I'd go with something like a synthetic.  I think Mobil and Royal Purple both make one.

As for the ignition switch, it may be that either the clutch switch or the neutral start switch has gone bad so they wired around it.  You can find that wiring here, but I've pasted it below for convenience: Documentation/Electrical/EVTM/1985 EVTM/Start & Ignition (Gas Engines).  But it might also be the ignition switch.

I like the steering wheel!

Something to check into is the firewall where the clutch master cylinder mounts (Next to the brake booster). There was a problem with these trucks where the firewall would crack around the seam next to the clutch master cylinder. If the clutch is difficult to push, or if you have any problems shifting gears, make sure this area is OK.

This post was updated on .
Will check the good advice on the gearing, not so good on wiring diagrams, but will have to improve.

For now it is mostly planning, reading up and ordering parts for next year.

Have a problem finding EOTZ-9929038-AA, upper trim rear wheel arch, i have it but it is very scraped and dented.

Went down to a guy who is good with bodywork and spray, he promissed to fix my tailgate decor, but thought the rear wheel arc trim was beyond rescue, because it´s alu, had it been stainless he could have done something.

Went on ebay and found EOTZ-9929038-A at a decent price inc shipping, should be a NOS piece, lets hope so.

Anyways, that was it for today

Best regards

Hi

In need of a tonneau cover, this one from truxedo looks clever. Do you guys think it would fit my truck?
Supercab and long bed?

Christian - That should fit fine.  It is for the 8' bed, and Ford didn't change the dimensions on those for many years ahead of nor behind the 1980's.

Did your guy get the tailgate straightened?  And did you get the wheelwell moulding from ebay?

Great!  Keep us updated.

As for getting the truck out, you are so far north I'm surprised you can get it out as early as Easter.

As the truck is parked another Place for the Winter, ideas and shopping list is piling up.
Hope you dont mind if I check some of the list With you guys ;=)

Thinking of getting som hubcaps for the Wheels, will LMCs part number  49-4217 fit my steelwheels?
As mine is a 2wd and f250, there doesnt seam to much to pick from. But these would do. And I kind a like that basic "not to shiny" look.

Any ideas for the Wheels are velcome :=)

They show it as fitting 2wd front, and rear F-250.
Unfortunately they do not offer depth, and the "light" 250's had semi floating rear axles that did not have a hub sticking out.

If you find that this fits also the F-350 rear, then it will fit over your hub, but may stick out far in the front (looking odd)

Thx guys

Found hubcapzone, they had four hubcaps that fit 3/4-1 ton truck, (Guess that means F250 hd and f350?).

https://www.hubcapzone.com/fordtrucks.html

At the bottom row four different caps are showing, which ones would fit? one is 2" deep and one is 4" and the other two doesn\ t say. But kinda like the one called 70ft.

Have a Nice day:=)

I'm looking on my phone and I only see two per row but I believe those are the same as the ones on my truck (in avatar)

The 2" deep will fit the front of a 2wd truck, and the rear of an F-250 under 8,500# Gross Vehicle Weight.
(Just under 4 metric tonnes)

The 4" deep ones are what fits over the hub of a full floating axle, like we have.

The 70FT with the three lion Crest I've never seen on these Bullnose trucks.
I'd imagine it came on some 1970's vintage Ford's.
My grandmother's 1976/7 Country Squire station wagon was covered with those (different hubcaps, headlight doors, steering wheel, etc..)

I'm seeing the 70FT as out of stock, but I think it would look good on your truck.

Curiously, they sell their 4x4 caps for cheaper than the standard caps. Seems to me like the ones with the holes are the hardest ones to find!

Hi

When ordering rear brake parts for F250 from LMC you need to specify if part needed is C or D.
As per picture, C is 12"'3 rear brake shoes and D is 12"*2-1/2.
How do I check what I have?

Best regards

Christian - You don't have a signature so I don't know the specifics about your truck.  But go here and this should let you decide: Documentation/Driveline/Brakes and then go to the Rear Brakes tab and then the Brake Drum Numbers tab.

And if you need to know the rear axle capacity you should be able to get that from the certification label on the door frame.  Go to Specifications/Axle Ratios and then decode the info from the certification label.

Hope that helps, but if not ask more questions.

Hi Gary

Does that say in the second Picture from the top?

Also when looking at videos on youtube it is hard to say how difficult it is changing the rear brakes, is a pretty straight forward job or do I need to worry. Thinking of taking inner Axel on and off.
Have done brake jobs before, but only on standard sedan, not on Heavy duty Axel trucks?

Christian - Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by "Does that say in the second Picture from the top?"  Please say that again, differently.

As for the axle, that should be a Dana 60 or Dana 70 rear axle and I'm not familiar with taking them apart.  Hopefully someone else on here is and will comment.

But, I see that I do not have the instructions on the site for that rear axle or, for that matter, those rear brakes.  Let me see what I can do about that later today.
