Newbie introduction +Question

Bluestallion1980
Hello All,
I just received my dad's 1980 F150 (which is in pretty rough shape) and now time to restore.  I was looking at the vin decoder and noticed the factory code "N" was missing from your list.  Is this normal or maybe a factory mess up?  Please see photos, any input is welcome.  Thank's for the time and help.

Welcome!  Glad you joined.

Where's home?  I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and we could add you if we had a city or zip.

As for the truck, you are right that it needs some work.  But it was your father's truck, so you are going to do it - right?

On the VIN, a 1980 truck got the short, 11 digit, VIN.  The 5th digit is the plant in which it was made, and "N" is for Norfolk.

Yes, welcome!

That is a neat, aggressive looking flareside you inherited.

Interested in seeing more of the front bumper.
The cylinder under the tailgate (to the right of the ball)? Originally thought exhaust but the shadows are throwing me off.

Sorry, I kind of rushed through.  We're from Watson, LA, and I am for sure going to revive this truck.  I Noticed in the decoder for the 1980 model there's no "N" as an option.  Am I missing something?
Also I'm glad to be here and hope to learn something.  Thank's for the help!

First, you are now on the map.

Second, you've run into the dumbness of this forum's software.  It, like most forums, doesn't read the camera orientation information in the picture's metadata.  So you have to properly orient your pics before posting.  I do it by opening them in some photo editing software, which does read the orientation data and properly orient's the picture.  Then save it and it'll show correctly.

On the plant, the assembly plant list didn't change from 1980 to 1981.

Welcome!

I said, not long ago, that we didn't often see winch bumpers on Flaresides.
But then I don't think I saw nearly as many Flaresides on the road as I do here on our forum.

So glad you're keeping this one in the family!

Thanks for those photos. Big fan of the front and rear (now that I know what it is) bumpers! Really fits the look of the truck.
Excited to watch the project progress.
