My little 1980 F100 Flareside

Max
I bought it summer 2019, the previous owner drove it over 25 years!

There was a little camper on it. Nice but in no good condition, so i removed an sell it.

The bedfloor doesent looks bad, but its totally rotten.

Very dirty Engine but its all on his place. The Carb, SmogPump and a lot of hooses must be replace.

I began to remove the bed floor and cleaned it all. No rust except for the wooden support at the front. I sandblasted them.

Now painted with a small paint-roller.

Cleaned  leaf springs and new bushings

Some "Mike-Sanders" fat was distributed in the front for preservation.

Some paint-work at the Front.

Now the upgrade to Power steering. In Germany its hard to find a correct bracket for the Pump,
so it became a self-made bracket. It works fine!

The manifold gasket was very leaky.

A crack on the intake-gasket

Cleaned and powder coated for a nice look

On his place with Remflex Gasket

The air conditioning is complete, but not working. The hoses are difficult to get, I have to make them.
Compressor dryers are not a problem to get.

The bed, I take Wood-Plastic-Composite.

I love this truck! Looks great, and you've done an amazing restoration in a relatively short amount of time.

Wow!  Just WOW!  Wonderful job.

That power steering pump bracket looks very well done.  Was the old one broken?

And what is "Mike-Sanders" fat?

Welcome to FOG (Flare side Owners Group)
Look its not blue
Most of the flare sides we see are blue, not many of us with a different color.

You have done a great job on the truck and love the bed floor.
I am helping someone and we talked about using a composite wood but don't know if it would look that nice.
I did see in 1 picture the wood was tongue & groove and that saw the board tight to each other and thinking that will not work then remembered composite wood so may not be an issue.

I take it the metal strips are for in bed tie downs, I like them as we don't have any thing to tie off to easy.

Also there are a few of us with metal ribbed floors on our flare sides

Started as a 8 foot style side bed

How well will your floor stand up to stuff in the bed?
Will something hard mark it like normal wood would?
I do love your floor.

Good morning and thank you soo much. I am very happy that you like it.

Hello Gary,
sorry for the mistake, its a conversion from manual to power steering.

MikeSanders is a rust protection, very popular here. https://mike-sander.de/index.php/en/

Hello Dave and thanks very much.

the important thing is that the composite has some leeway in all directions. It stretches less than wood, but there still has to be a small margin.

The lashing straps are used for fastening, that's right.

The metal floor is great, surely the best for tough use.

The composite is harder than wood, but unfortunately, marks still come in when in use.
However, signs of use are not noticed as quickly because it is not painted.

With kind regards

Oh, it was manual steering and you converted to power.  Now I understand.

And I also understand about Max Sanders.  Cool!

You are really doing well.  Congrat's!

Hello,
I have the pictures on a private host in Germany. Maybe it will take a little longer to load.

Here are a few more pictures of the bed floor.
I am very happy that you like it.

I think pictures shown on this forum are hosted on this forum, not hotlinked.

But, I may be wrong.

Jim - You are correct.  If you use the Insert Image button that puts the image on the forum's server and it shouldn't go away, unlike on some other forums.

The exception to this is if you were to "embed" a picture, like I embed Word & Excel documents or PDF's.  Then it is a link to another server.  But I don't think anyone is embedding pics.

GRRRR... Still won't load in Explorer or Chrome.

At a glance, the bed floor looked like engineered deck lumber - seems like a great idea that won't rot!

Thanks Gary!!

Max - How do the bolts attach to the panels? I can see the nuts underneath the truck, but no exposed bolt heads in the bed. It really looks great!

I am going to guess here but the bed bolt go down thru the tie downs that go front to rear.
The boards are tung & groove IIRC so you get them tight to each other and the bed side bolts hold them in place.

It does look nice and love the tie downs.
