Mirror disassembly

Has anyone disassembled a mirror before? I bought a parts mirror with the less common trailer swing away function. I’m very frustrated as the ball socket piece which mounts to the mirror itself on one end and the small metal swing bar on the other end won’t come apart and it looks as tho it should. It has a torx head on the underside and I’m just stripping the damn thing. What gives? I only want the small metal swing bar as mine is bent and the donor mirror isn’t as nice as mine. I’ve soaked it with pb blaster but no luck. Are these secretly one piece? Why the torx head then? If my mounted mirror is going to be this difficult I might just give up now.

They come apart, but it sounds like yours is fused together.
