I grew up in Ford trucks on the farm were they were used to haul loads and make the trip to town. From there I have personally owned:
1. '79 F150 XLT 302 Short Box 1985-88 - sold it the summer I graduated high school wanted a 4x4
2. '84 Ranger 2.3L Short Box 4x4 1988-95 - ran it until I could afford a brand new truck.
3. '95 F150 300 4x4 1995-00 - bought new for $13,500 after sitting on the lot for a year then totaled it with 137k
4. '86 Ranger 2.9L 4x4 2000 - Hated it after driving that '95 F150
5. '01 F150 5.4L 4x4 2000-01 - bought it new, but after driving a Super Duty, this truck went up for sale.
6. '02 F250 Super Duty 7.3L 2001 - 2012 - best truck I have ever owned with nothing close. I drove it until the body couldn't take it anymore. Pulled anything and everything even when people said I shouldn't. I felt the truck could have pulled a house off the foundation in 4x4 low. I would have tried if someone would have needed the job done. 238k miles and the engine was just as strong as day one. Sold it for $8k with a Fred Flintsone cab. Never a problem one with that truck.
7. '13 F150 XLT 4x4 5.0L 2012 - present. Rides better than most cars, but it is too much of a yuppie truck to me. 120k with no issues so I really can't complain and dependable. Bed is too small and too many integrated electronic systems. I want EFI only. No power windows, no power seats or no push button 4x4 ... just take me back so I can turn the knob, roll the handle up & down or disengage the lever with my hand, spray of the vinyl floor and replace the cover on the bench seat when it gets to dirty, why can't I get a new truck like that again?
8. '86 F250 4x4 std cab AOD with blown 5.0L from Califorina just picked it up Aug 2018. Pulling a 5.8L to replace the 5.0 and screwing around with the interior as the paint job is getting lined up.
Looking forward to sharing information and gaining a whole lot more knowledge. Love to drive them, but really never liked to wrench on them until the last few years. If I don't quit spending money on new tools, I won't be able to afford any truck improvements for awhile.
