HVAC "Heat" Slider

Quarterwave
Hi everyone,

When I try to slide the temperature slider to the "heat" side of the spectrum, the lever is really hard to push from about half way. So hard that I can only get it into about 2/3's of the heat range.

Is this common?

What is the usual cause?

Thanks!

Do you have factory AC or a heat/vent only panel?

The cable (solid wire actually) could be kinked or rusted in its sheath.
The blend door may have torn its hinges or something may be obstructing it.

That's about it unless the plastic quadrant or the sheath anchor on the control itself is broken

It's relatively quick & easy to pull the glove box, heater core cover & core, and watch the temperature blend door move as you work the control:

Ok, thanks everyone.

ArdWrknTrk - I have the factory AC.

Steve - thanks for the pics/links. Does the dash need to come out? I'm trying to tell from the pic in the link you provided and it looks like the dash is out.

With factory AC you only need to remove the glove box to get at the heater box in order to pull the core and see the blend door.

I take pics when it's convenient while I'm working, but you only need to do what I posted above.
