"FORD" Scripts Don't Match!

LARIAT 85
Has anyone else noticed that the "F O R D" hood letters on the front of the 1980/1981 trucks do not match the "F O R D" letters on the aluminum tailgate finish panel?  It's the most noticeable on the "F" and "R" letters:

Lucille:  1985 Ford F150 XLT Lariat

*Colors:  Dark Canyon Red exterior, Canyon Red interior
*Engine: 5.0, CompCams 31-230-3, "Thumper" E7 heads, Edelbrock Performer intake, Autolite 4100 carburetor, DuraSpark II ignition, Thorley Tri-Y headers, Flowmaster dual exhaust, H-pipe.
*Drivetrain:  AOD transmission, 3.55 gears, 2wd.

Even more strangely to my mind, the letters on the finish panel don't match the letters on the tailgate that they are sitting on top of.

It looks like the hood letters are leftover from the 1978 and 1979 trucks.

The only hood letters that match the large tailgate letters on the aluminum tailgate finish panel are from a Ford Courier.  I wonder why these letters were not used on the Bullnose trucks?

I noticed the same thing when I added the tailgate panel to my F150.

That's why I lifted my Ranger, it's about the same story with my 6'4" frame.
