Re: Darth Vader

Bill - Glad you found the gallery. However, Darth's pic is so large it is extending off to the right such that I can't see all of it. And on this iPad it won't let me even scroll to see it. Plus, while I'm typing this response it won't show me all of the words I've typed as some are always off the screen.

But you can fix that by adding width="100%" to the code that was added to embed your pic. Just edit your post and put that code where it is shown below, although the stuff below doesn't have the <> ahead/behind.

Thanks for posting your truck, that's a nice rig. I was remembering some other (wrong) pic from FTE so it's good to have the right mental image 😉.

Gary, this is one of those posts that I can't get either the text or pic to fully display on my iPhone no matter what I do, so it is probably related to the image dimensions.

Re: Darth Vader

Jonathan - Yes, it only partially comes up on my iPad as well.  Hopefully Bill will edit his pic's code, as shown above.  I'm going to see if there is a way to may 100% the default - but don't hold your breath.

Perfect. Thanks. 👍  (One of the things I like about this forum is that you can use the full range of emoticons on the iPad. Like 🎉 or 🎊, or even 🏯🇦🇽😜  Yes, I know the photo thing isn't the best, but .....)

That picture was taken before I embarked on the upgrades. The blue and white truck in the background is "Big Ugly" the donor vehicle for the EFI and E4OD, a 1990 F-250, the one behind Darth seems to be a bastard child as I don't know how two Fords couple give birth to an S10.

Re: Darth Vader

I think they adopted it out of a sense of sorrow for the little tyke. Seeing it wandering around aimlessly in a sea of full-sized trucks, and wearing a bow-tie no less, would be enough to cause anyone to want to help.

Haha! My BIL worked for GM for 35 years or more, my sis also worked at GM, good thing I have the Suburban or they might disown me!

My answer to them, "I just like the Ford trucks better".

Re: Darth Vader

The donor engine stripped down to the long block and intake. You can see how tight the 460 is between the frame rails.

Rats nest of wiring on the left side, most of it lay on the inner fender, the relays just hanging were for trailer lights and battery charge.

One of the major problems in changing the front sheet meal was getting the old bumper off, the two circled bolts were a royal pain to get loose.

Metal eating termites, this side was the worst.

This one wasn't too bad.

One minor problem found while changing the grille, when trying to remove it the threads on the auxiliary transmission cooler stripped.

These are pictures of the top of dash mounts I made to allow a 1987 up dash to attach at the top in a 1986 cab.

Original left end dash mounting on 1990 up dash, there is a plastic insert that snaps in the hole.

Piece I made from aluminum with the plastic insert installed. Large aluminum casting is the parking brake and steering column support used from 1992-1997

Two center mounts on 1990, the oval hole is for the alignment pin to center the dash.

New center mounts, note the alignment hole in the left one.

Right end on 1990.

Right end piece with insert installed.

Both axles on the "workstand" 1990 is in front.

From the back you can see the difference in width.

Single wheel axle backing plate to backing plate.

Dual wheel axle backing plate to backing plate.

Removing the empty single wheel axle housing, dual wheel ready to be installed.

Dual rear brake area, 12X3 1/2" drums.

Spring plate, thankfully I got 2 U-bolts and 2 spring plates along with brake cables with the axle.

Everything in position for musical axles.

Out with the old!

Cleaning things up before rolling the new axle underneath. Linkage in center is from the load compensating valve.
