Clean low mile 1985 F150 on Ebay w/original paint in NY

Rembrant
Only 18 hrs left as of 5am...

Looks to be pretty close to you Jim...

As mentioned in the auction, it's pretty clear that this thing was kept indoors and not driven in the winter/salt, etc. Looks to be in very nice condition. With 61k original miles an a 300/6 three pedal truck...I'd love to have it myself.

Question for the experts: What is that little chin spoiler on there? Was that a factory Bullnose item?...Must go hunting on Ebay...David if you ever run across one of these...

Notice that this truck has the somewhat illusive side molding!

The small chin spoiler was on some trucks geared toward gas mileage efficiency. My son's 1984 F150 with 4.9L, 4 speed manual O.D. and 2.47 rear gears came so equipped.

My 1986 F150 with 4.9L, 4 speed manual O.D. and 3.08 rear gears also came with one.

I did an experiment and removed the air dam. With my repeatable drive to work and home, I recorded a 1/2 mpg drop as compared to ~17 mpg.

David,

Is the air damn plastic? I see it is shown in the Bumper parts illustration.

Is it just like a 1" x 1" L shape, 3-4 feet long and attached to the bottom of the bumper with rivets?

I believe it is a moderately hard rubber. From the factory, it is held on with steel rivets.

Cory, I have a NOS one at home. I will try to remember to get the numbers off the package, if you want me to, but you could make one from something "L" shaped. If I was doing that, I would try to make the leading edge longer... maybe 2". You can used small stainless steel bolts with washers to secure it. I did this when swapping to the nicer bumpers Jonathan [Ford F834] found for me.

Begin @ post #6 of this old thread from FTE. By the way, I believe it is plastic, not rubber, as I stated above.
