Chris - Was it yesterday that Bill said there was a side trim that didn't have vinyl on it but he'd never seen it? Well, it was hiding in the attic. I think it is off Cash's Carlos 1981 F100. Here's a pic of it as well as the one w/vinyl that I'm offering to Hardy.

That is the best-looking of the lower body moldings in my opinion. It has a bit of brushed texture to it:

It doesn't have rubber or vinyl? Just paint? Hadn't seen it.

No paint, just a brushed aluminum texture where the rubber was placed in later years.

Right he is. On my page of Exterior Trim & Moulding, and on the Lower Moulding tab it says:

There was also an earlier version that had the vinyl rub strip in it, but the rub strip stuck out much further than the later ones that was more flat. It was sort of a "rhombus" shape - very similar to the rub strips on the front and rear bumper.

I *think* these were only used on the early 1980 models.

I've seen that thick rubber insert on the lower molding of 1981 trucks.

Rick and Jonathan - The lower moulding with vinyl insert changed as of 4/81 at the same time as the moulding w/o vinyl insert disappeared. E0TZ to E1TZ.
