Having a catalytic converter or not is dependent on vehicle GVWR. A light-duty F250 will have one, the heavier-duty variant, not. No F350 came with one.

My 1986 is 8800 GVWR, so no converter. I believe it was 85lebaron that said 1987 was the last year with no converters.

The engine emissions label will say Catalyst or Non-Catalyst.

Correct, the carbureted 460 trucks never had cats, it wasn't until 1988 when the EFI 460s came out that they had them added.
