Bronco rear window defrost problems

Nickelplate
Hey all! I was just looking at the short list of things I have left to resolve on the 1986 Bronco. One item is that the rear defrost does not work. I think that happens is that when I put down the back window, sometimes the wiring for the rear defroster gets caught on the key switch on the tailgate. I think that this happened one time and it actually ripped the metal blade connector off of the glass. Does anyone have any tips or advice on soldering a piece of metal to a pane of safety glass?

I had my Bronco take the blade off but not break the metal.

I don't remember what it looks like, can you use a rivet or small screw and nut to get it back on?

Mine doesn’t work either, going to do a full tailgate rebuild next spring.

In the meantime you may want to consider this if you can’t make a good resolder

Grumpin, it seems to just be a pad of solder that goes straight onto a copper contact that is part of the window. No hole to help with fastening.

Thanks, gsmblue. I don't think any of my lines are broken, but I will definitely keep this in mind when I do my own tailgate rebuild in the next year or so!
