Brake bleed screw replacement problems?

This post was updated on .
Hello,

Am swapping out my front chewed up, (it would never fully tighten down), caliper brake bleeder screw , and when i took it to my local mechanic -for him to measure the size- , he said i needed to find an exact replacement. Is this true?

I looked it up on Rockauto (the 'dual piston bleed screw) and they don't even look like the one that was in there?

The calipers in question are new, (although i forget the make).

Thoughts on the matter much appreciated!

Thanks,

I've never seen a bleeder without a tapered seat.
That's how they work.

thanks Jim.
well this one didn't work so maybe that explains it!!

also the nipple on the caliper in question was different from the other (working) one, so maybe they just threw whatever they could find on this one.

X2 with Jim there is no way that could have worked right.
