351 Windsor Power steering bracket

Oz Econoline/F100
Hi guys has anyone got or shed any light on to where I may find a bracket from. I'm trying to convert from the 300 6 over to the 351 Windsor.

Darin - I'll look tomorrow as I might have one.  But it looks like that is part number D8AZ 38732-A.  So that means you should be able to find it in a '78 or '79 truck as well as any 1982 or later truck with a Windsor.

Thanks Gary do you know if the 302 bracket is the same as the 351 brackets with the engine being that little bit wider in the V? I have tried the Clevland bracket that i have over here and they don't fit either.

Are you referring to the 3C511 bracket in the picture below? I believe it is different between the 351w and the 302.

As far as I know, the cast aluminum 3A372 bracket is the same on all of them (and a zillion other Fords), but that steel bracket varies. Gary will correct me if I'm wrong.

Here's a picture of my 302. You can see that the steel plate on mine wouldn't work on a 351w when the bolt hole in the head moves up by 1/2". (At least I don't think it would).

Actually a number of the mounting brackets were common to 302 and 351W engines, this was done by using an aluminum adapter on the front of the heads, it was turned short end up on a 302 and long end up on a 351W and the accessory (PS pump or alternator) long mounting bolt went into it rather than the actual holes in the heads.

Cory - I think you are right.  3C511 is different between 302 and 351W.  In the snippet below you can see that the little Windsors, the 255 and 302, take E2BZ 3C511-A.  And the "B" indicates it came from a car not a truck.  But the 351W takes E4TZ 3C511-C.

So the question to Darin is which bracket, or brackets, do you need?  Both?

Oh, two other things.  First, I won't have a 302 bracket.  Second, here's another illustration of the parts of which we type:

Thanks Guys, I have the alloy bracket that the pump mounts to from the 300 six (like the plastic type Cory's has). We use that alloy bracket on Clevelands over here as well. I need the bracket that goes from the water pump to the alloy pump bracket. So is that a 3C511? and it looks like it uses a different bracket to mount to the pump (3A732).

Yes, you need 3C511.  I checked today and thought I'd found one, but then I decoded the ID # on it and it appears to be for a 351M or 400.  But by the time I figured that out the day was over.  I'll go back up tomorrow or Monday and look again.  I really think I have one for a 351W.

Darin - I'm sorry, but I don't have that bracket.  As I think about it, I believe it got used in the serpentine setup for Dad's truck.  Sorry.

How quickly do you need this part? I can look around and ask a few people if they have one.

Thank's Cory that would be great I'm doing the same thing over here to try and find one. Our bull nose's over here had Clevelands and that bracket is wrong as well and the late 80's one's had the 302 Windsor mainly with the serpentine belt and I don't want to go that way.

Many thanks to Cory who was able to source a power steering bracket and ship it to me from Canada to Australia to get the truck one step closer to running.

It arrived a few days ago and I've cleaned it up, painted it and fitted it to the truck.

Now it's time to move on to the next layer from the 6 cylinder to V8 conversion.

Gary, I'm sure you've heard that saying that goes something like..."If you enjoy what you do, you'll never have to work a day in your life", or something like that? To me it's the same kind of thing...if you enjoy doing a favor for somebody, then it really takes no effort at all.

I've gotten a lot out of the forum, so I'll return favors to the members whenever I am able to do so.

Darin, great picture! Glad it all worked out OK! Can't wait to see it all finished.

Cory - I understand.  I, too, enjoy doing favors for others.

And it is especially fun to see someone's build from half a world away when that someone has been in your home.

Well guys all I can say is that I'm very thankful that Cory could help me with those parts because there is no way that I was going to be able to find them over here. As well as all the help and info that is provided on this forum - it is second to none. Gary, the efforts that you put into and bring to this forum is unbelievable.

On a side note, the hospitality Gary and his wife Janey have shown to us and many other people (both from around the country and across the globe) by opening their home and welcoming us, it's nice to know that there are still some kind and generous people in the world.
