1986 supercab two piece drive shaft, u-joints and bearings

86Supercab
Hello group!

I ran into some trouble identifying what u-joints I needed for my 86 f250
The parts store told me there were three different sizes with several different combinations.
While Gary has quite the encyclopedia of knowledge on our trucks, some part numbers either don’t cross check or just weren’t available.

If you’re like me, you like to have everything to get the job done before you start taking stuff apart (especially if you’re working on your only vehicle).
So, I thought I’d post up some information about two piece driveshafts, u joints and carrier bearings (aka center support bearing) that I’ve found on my truck in hopes that it may be of some help to others, if you haves similar setup.

This is the setup on my truck:

• 1986 f-250

That's a really good list!  And, other than the Dana 50 in front, it is a perfect match for Big Blue.  So, I'll be able to use that info.  Thanks!

So, how did you figure all of that out?  Last I knew it was the carrier bearing that was elusive.

I wish I had read this before. I purposely bought greaseable u joints thinking that they would last longer

I found almost all the information for my truck here At Gary’s.
I found the ujoint information just by cross referencing the part numbers. I actually took an educated guess and got lucky when I bought the ujoints. Lol
