Can someone post a photo of the engine side hvac box diagram for 84?

Do you want a pic of one with A/C or just heat?  If A/C I can get pics in the morning.

84 is actually the wrong year. I always think this truck is an 84 but it's an 82 or 83. Anyways, I was at my parents yesterday and was going to take the aux battery setup off this truck and I noticed it had a piece of metal none of my other trucks have over the hvac box. It appears to just provide another point for the dryer to hook to. At first I thought maybe the early evaps didn't have two points of attachment but I checked the diagrams in my 80, 83, 85, and 86 books and they all look the same.
All I can think now is that it helps prevent the dryer hoses from pulling down too much?  Not really sure that's a problem though.
It may be more common than I know - can't say the hvac box is where my eyes usually look when opening the hood of a truck.

Edit: I guess it's an accumulator rather than a dryer - havent delved into a/c much yet...

I'd have told you that brace is only used on '94-96 (& '97 heavy) trucks.  But theirs is noticeably more slender than yours, so IDK if it's original.  I've never noticed it on any pre-'94 truck, and it's not in any of my photos.

I just took a look through my 1984 FSM and I did't see anything relating to that bracket.

The master parts catalog doesn't show it in the illustration, below, and w/o a part number I'm not sure what to look for in the text section.

Thanks guys for looking. We would have bought the truck sometime around 97-98 so possible a PO pulled it from a later year (maybe a one year design). Heading to the jy now so will keep an eye out for any others.

Finding a few of the ones Steve mentioned and even a Hi Output box (I know nothing special but I don't think I've seen one in person before) but no brackets on any bullnoses.

Interesting!  Does it have any #'s on it?  Or, does yours?

The base PN is 19D607, but so are the rings around the accumulator/drier.

It's both, and Ford calls it an accumulator/drier.  The desiccant is in a bag (or 2) inside the accumulator housing.

Ah, had wondered what was inside that thing.

No, no number stamped on any of them. As I was leaving I found another on an early bronco (tried to open the door for the year but no small number of red wasps informed me that was their domain now).

When I typed it earlier I knew that combo of words would come back to get me
An early bronco in the context of this forum...

Back sort of on-topic...

I forgot I had an '81 Service Manual - none of its diagrams show that upper plate.  One of them shows 2 rings, but both attach to the evaporator plate.

Interesting. Thanks for checking. Had to be some reason they put it on there for some but may never know...
