1983 vintage advertisement videos

I found this compilation of old Ford advertisement videos. Most are redundant, but there are different tid bits in each, and if you pay attention there are clues about when certain changes were made etc. It is an interesting watch for a bullnose buff, as well as humorous with respect to what they had for selling points back then vs. today!

Apparently I'm not pushing the right button as I'm not finding the video. I get 5 home tricks or a list of other videos, but haven't found the Ford one. Can you help me?

Same here, but they are good life hacks. I'm about to make the world's fluffiest scrambled eggs thanks to the video.

Sorry guys, I guess I need to remember to try my own links before trusting that they work. Try this:

Ok, some observations:
At 1:15 I see that the front axles on 2wd trucks were originally red or orange and white, and the springs were yellow. At 5:45 I see that on 4wd models the TTB's are supposed to be yellow, the springs white, and the tie rods and shocks green.  Good to know for restoration.
At 3:53 that XLS sure is nice. (Note that I did NOT say "cute".)
At 4:16 it says a 6.9 or 7.5L engine, which they'd earlier said required at least an F250 HD, can tow up to 10,000 lbs. And today my smooth-riding F150 w/a 3.5L can tow almost 12,000 lbs. 😳
At 8:35 it looks like they hired drunks to do the driving as that guy can't keep it out of the ruts!
At 11:04 we see that the XLT replaced the Lariat in 1983.
At 11:22 the HVAC controls changed for 1983.
Hmmm, at 15:29 it say the tailgate on F250 and 350's can be easily removed. But that implies the one on the F150 can't be - and they are the same part numbers. 😳

More later.......

Gary, your observations are spot on. The driving is truly cringe worthy and may account for why so many of the actors were wearing hard hats. 😂 Maybe they ought to try out that 4 Lo feature that the guy explains in the last segment.

I'm a bit curious about that 5.8 being N/A in California? Is that accurate 😳. The guy also wouldn't shut up about the new 4 speed with 5.11 first gear, but in my experience the vast majority are 4.02, and I've found one 6.32 T19 in the junkyards. This 5.11 seems to be a rare bird. There are a bunch of text slides that flash by in the middle, but the info on them may be equally bunk.

Jonathan - The catalog shows the following for T19 usage:

And at Novak Conversions I found this info:

Three gearing options were available for the Ford T19. The T19 was available with a 6.32:1 first gear. These were only in rarer Ford 500-800 series HD trucks. The very most common T19 available in Ford applications was the T19A with the 4:02:1 first gear ratio. For two years (documented from 1983-1986+) there was a Ford T19 option with a 5.11:1 first gear. All ratios listed had a synchronized first.
We've learned that the 1983 to 1986 Ford T19's, as installed behind the 460 and diesel typically had the 4.02:1 first gear in a 2wd application, or a diesel 4wd application. However, 5.11 versions are reported also for these. The 460 4wd truck got the 6.32:1 first gear, purportedly from 1983 to 1986 F250's.

Now to do more research on the parts lists......

The plot thickens....  The input shafts have different tooth-counts, but the first gears have the same tooth-counts.  And the ratio differences don't match with 6.32, 5.11, and 4.32 ratios.  So, there must be another difference.

I will admit I am a little lost. I can extrapolate that the input shaft tooth counts of 17, 22 and 23 might correlate to the three different 1st gear ratios, but beyond that I have no guesses. Perhaps the main shaft gear counts are also different? I know one very BAD trait of the 5.11 version is that 3rd gear is a whopping 1.79:1 ouch! What a jump down from 1:1. Holy screaming engine!

Well, we might bump into each other wandering around in the vast lostness.  So watch out for me 'cause I'm there with you - some place.

One thing to note is that saying "T-19C" or "T-19C" may not mean much.  There are specifications within each that tell what gears each take.

Here is another compilation of advertisements for everyone's amusement and cringe factor curiosity... wow, they were sure optimistic with their mpg numbers in 1983 😇 And calling the CL900 heave truck aerodynamic 😂

I know this is a bricknose truck, but some may find this review of the 1988 Bronco an interesting watch:
