Interesting.  Do you know what size tires Ford used with the deeper 15x8 wheels?
If you read the 1979 Bronco brochure, it says the standard steel wheels were 15x6, and the wider 15x8 wheels came with 10x15 Tires option.

The spare in that picture clearly shows a deeper 15x8 wheel, and I agree with Shaun that the 1980 Bullnose brochures show the wider 15x8 wagon wheels also, although there's no mention of the 15x8 wheels that I can find. There is mention of the swing away outside spare tire carrier included with 15x10C tires.

According to the Marti Report for my 1980 F150 Flareside 4x4, it came with 10x15C Raised White Letter All-Terrain Tires. That truck was built in 09/79, so it was an early Bullnose, as Bullnoses go. There's no mention of the wheel style or size, but judging by the wording of the '79 brochures, the 10x15C tire option determined that you would also get 15x8 wheels. I don't know anything about these old tire sizes, but it my understanding that the 10x15 tire size was the predecessor to the 31x10.50-15 tire size.

My 1980 Marti report...truck built in September 1979. I would have to assume it came with 15x8 wheels.

Wasn't the "standard" tire size of the era something like L78-15, which was the equivlent to what is now a 235/75-15, or a 225/75-15?
